Daniel T. Moore - Class Of 1971

Daniel T. Moore

Daniel Thomas Moore of Liverpool, NY passed away surrounded by love on January 1, 2018. He was 64. Dan was born in Rochester, NY on February 8, 1953, the youngest of three sons to Harry Winthrop Moore, Jr. and Kathleen Patricia (Smith) Moore and spent his formative years in Trumansburg, NY where he developed his great love for the outdoors and the written word. Dan lived for 40 and a half years with the love of his life and best friend, Diana, with whom he raised two sons, Chris and Jason. Dan’s work led him to live in many locations from Massachusetts to Georgia and across Upstate New York but his home was always his family. All his life, Dan was a gifted storyteller. Whether writing short stories in his youth, preaching as an Elder in the United Methodist Church, visually sharing stories through his production company, or through his series of science fiction novels, Dan had a way of communicating the beauty and mysteries of life. Dan was a renaissance man, having received degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University (1975), Divinity from Boston University (1979), and in Television, Radio & Film from Syracuse University (1990). But of all his accomplishments, Dan was most proud of his boys, of whom he once said, “are the men I aspired to be.” Dan is survived by his wife Diana, his sons Christopher (Gina) and Jason (Kimberly), his six grandchildren - Garrett, Logan, Liam, Benjamin, Kennedy, and Julia - and his eldest brother Hank. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2pm Liverpool First United Methodist Church, 604 Oswego Street, Liverpool, NY 13088. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) www.umcor.org.
