Survived By: He is survived by his sister, Mary Evelyn Hoffman (R Graham Hoffman) and his sister-in-law, Shirley C Rice. He is also survived by his nephews, Glenn Hoffman (Cara Hoffman) and Barent Rice (Michelle Mitcavish), and by his nieces, Carol Hoffman (D Chorba), Paula Katherine Rice (Mark Simmons), and Miranda Rice (Harold Pierce). In addition, he has many relatives near and far.

Friends and family are invited to a gathering to honor the life of Paul Kenneth Rice who passed away on March 8, 2009. Paul was born in Ithaca on May 15, 1944 and grew up on the family farm near Trumansburg. He graduated from Trumansburg Central School, attended McKendree College, Illinois; and throughout his life attended various institutions focusing on photography, art, graphic design, and botanical illustration. He served in the US Navy and spent a number of years living in Melbourne Beach, Florida. Nature and shore life were favorite subjects and he was honored to be selected as a photographer for the Space Shuttle Columbia. For the last twenty years, Paul has been living in Ithaca near a large extended family and numerous supportive resources. Paul appreciated the beauty of this area especially at the family cottage, Rice Heritage, on Cayuga Lake. Paul is predeceased by his father, Paul K Rice, his mother, Georgia P Rice, and his older brother, Carter VB Rice. He is survived by his sister, Mary Evelyn Hoffman (R Graham Hoffman) and his sister-in-law, Shirley C Rice. He is also survived by his nephews, Glenn Hoffman (Cara Hoffman) and Barent Rice (Michelle Mitcavish), and by his nieces, Carol Hoffman (D Chorba), Paula Katherine Rice (Mark Simmons), and Miranda Rice (Harold Pierce). In addition, he has many relatives near and far. Please join us for a service at Bangs Funeral Home on Saturday, March 21 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception and community display of Paul's artwork at the Public Library, Borg Warner room.
