Bruce Allen Higgins of Trumansburg passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the age of 65.
Bruce was born in Ithaca on May 13, 1948, a son of the late Ralph and Pauline (LaPoint) Higgins. A lifelong resident of Trumansburg, he was a graduate of Trumansburg High School in 1966. He joined the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1977. Bruce owned and operated his own business, Lighting Repair Clinic for over 20 years and retired in 2010 from TST Boces where he worked in maintenance. Woodworking was one of Bruce's hobbies, making many nice things for family and friends over the years. He always stayed up to date with current computer technology, resolving many technical issues for family members. Bruce shared his love of cooking by hosting Thanksgiving dinner annually and always bringing homemade soup to Christmas dinner. Bruce is survived by his two sons, Allen and Robert Higgins of El Mirage, AZ; a granddaughter, Cheyenne Higgins of El Mirage, AZ; and three sisters, Judith (William) Cuyle of Danby, Connie (Roy "Joe") Ike of Interlaken, and Linda (John) Reed of Cortland. In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his loving and faithful dogs, Dixie and Molly.
